I am interested in getting a derby cover custom engraved for one of my bikes, with a graphic that is meaningful to me. I did some internet searches and found a few companies that do such work.
Has anyone gotten one done? If so, where did you get it done, how much did it cost and could you share a picture? It seems like the market is about $200-$250 for what I might want, which doesn't break the bank, but I would like to hear some feedback from others before plunking down the cash.
There's a guy on FB who does custom derby covers, and his prices didn't seem that high, as I recall. He's in a few of the groups I'm in for the Dyna/FXR bikes and other Harley parts/sale/trade groups.
My brother made this one for my bike. Its not engraved, instead he CNC machined it. The lettering is 3D and finished in gun metal gray with the rest gloss black. He also machined it to accept ARP bolts as opposed to the stock stuff. I would imagine one of the engraving companies would be cheaper however. Chopper Custom Covers on Facebook seems to do good work.
