Do Not Underestimate the Power of the Darkside
By Edsel Cooper

Putting a car tire on the back of a motorcycle is called going to the "Darkside." Yoda said about it "once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny," which may not be true, but it may dominate your discussions with other riders you meet.

If you want to do it, go ahead... But my issue is just what I see in the pic,,, That rear tire does not look planted on the ground very well!

This comes up on most motorcycle forums occasionally. I did that a long long time ago, but it was with the old type bias ply tire. It handled like crap. Maybe radials would work better, but I'm not going to find out.

This is no better than a car tire and the bike in the first post actually looks nice from behind. The first one Ive seen that looked good with a car tire!

That looks bitchin'.....I had one on my metric bike and loved it. If it didn't take over 100psi to mount one to a MC rim I would have one on my Dyna. If the seating issue ever gets worked out, I will be coming back to the Dark Side.

I never understood the reason for this. Is there some kind of performance benefit? Is it one of those "see how dangerously cool I look" things?

You wanna put a car tire on a motorcycle then sack up and ride one of these.

From what I’ve seen it’s a cost thing,I’m not a fan of fighting the bike wanting to upright itself.
