Yup.

Although not all German Autobahns are unrestricted, and even when they are, there can still be road construction and/or heavy traffic. It took us about a week to find one where we could try out the 155 mph speed limiter on my wife's new BMW Track Pack.

There are no speed limits on the Isle of Man, except for in town. That was even more fun.

Yes. They have electronic speed limit signs everywhere that keep changing all the time, as well as speed cameras. And there is no "allowance" above the speed limit. We were there (Germany, Italy, France, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and Austria) for a month, and were VERY careful with the speed limits.

In Switzerland in particular, we've heard that they'll confiscate your car for speeding, so the San Bernardino Pass over the Swiss Alps was the only place where we pushed it with the speed limits in Switzerland.

Since the Nurburgring Nordschleife is technically a one-way German toll road, it does have speed limits in two places, but there are no speed cameras, and the police don't do any speed enforcement there. It was an epic driving experience.

I really enjoy cruising on 55mph roads, when the speedo reads 60 my bike feels very smooth. I do have an 883 Sportster though so I'm not sure how that would feel on a big twin.

Like has been said already the two lane roads are better any ways unless you are in a hurry.

Fortunately, I can head out for a nice 6 - 8 hour putt & put in less than 5 - 10 miles on 4-lane road. I like cruisin' the backwoods & chillin' on little 35 - 45mph, 2-lane roads. When I'm out riding, I got nowhere I gotta be, all day to get there & that's just the way I like it.

Rippin' it on the Autobahn is fun, but way too stressful for my liking. I've seen 155mph & climbing on my old Kawi on the A81 toward Heilbronn & **** just happens way too fast. I used to be into scaring myself on purpose, but got over that bit of silliness long ago.

FWIW, the A3 between Nurnberg & Passau is probably the best road for pure speed, with few towns along the way & light (for German standards) traffic.

What year and model of Kawasaki?

I know where Passau is. I'm not familiar with Nurnberg- where is that?

I took a trip a few years back over to the Blue Ridge Parkway from Arkansas. I got on the Interstate and ran over to Roanoke, VA and got on the Parkway there. I had some friends asking me why I took the Interstate. I told them I did that to get where I was going, then I had time to have fun and enjoy the ride on the way back. I do that a lot. If I'm going somewhere, I'll take the Interstate or other 4 lane road just to get there, but then take the 2 lanes once I'm there and have time to enjoy the ride coming home.

Interstate riding is fine when I just want to get from point A to point B; and I am not all that interested in stopping and smelling the roses or taking in the scenery. Riding all day at 75+ is no problem at all on my bike. But, you miss a lot and I prefer riding the back roads and rural highways most of the time. Sometimes the posted speed limits are 45 and sometimes they are 65. Sometimes there are traffic signals and stop signs; and sometimes it is vast stretches of nothing but horizon and solitude.

If they banned motorcycles on all the freeways it wouldn’t bother me one little bit. If I’m in that big of a hurry, I’ll take a plane. Thats not to say I won’t ride the freeway, just don’t enjoy it nearly as much as the two lanes.

That said, any rides a good ride, some’s just gooder-N- others.

Just traveled that stretch yesterday. Leaves are just beginning to show their colors. Unfortunately, Lynda's Wolf Den in Dancy is closed on Sundays, one of our favorite stops along the way.
