My two-stroke PX Vespa has a catalytic converter, so the two-stroke oil is not doing harm 13+ years of running. I use the expensive Swiss synthetic oil, a bottle lasts me a long time.
I think w/a 2-stroke engine adding too much oil can have the effect of leaning out the mixture by displacing some of the fuel in the mix. The result can be a seizure, even though more oil has been added. Kind of the opposite outcome people were hoping for by adding extra oil.
I have been adding 1 1/2 oz marvel mystery oil per 5 gal gas in my '78 Bonny, many years of healthy running, ran it in my fuel injected 02 Duke too. Always clean reliable running.
That's my big story..
Maybe back in the day it was worth doing that helps old carbs bikes use to use marvel mystery oil. But in todays vechicles theres no need with fuel injection just clean that system at lease once a year and your good.

I see the tin man sure got you with a dose of their coolaid.
back in the days of super fuel your exhaust mufflers would burn out....these days with unleaded they dont seem to burn out much at all...so folks would add some 2 stroke oil to the fuel so the mufflers woudnt burn out. Over time 2 stroke oil has developed heaps and the biggest drawback adding 2 stroke oil to your fuel is that the oil will "varnish up" if your bike is not ridden leading to blockages. So dont add 2 stroke to your fuel, unless it fires every stroke !!!
