I feel a little dumb asking this but since a mechanic said it, I am somewhat curious;
While having some electrical work done, I was chatting with the service guy who was saying to never shut off the kill switch on the handlebars as this is the first component to break normally. He said to keep it always on and only shut off on the tank switch. I am not sure if I believe him and also have a warranty to cover it in the event he is correct.
I agree with your mechanic - No need to use both the kill switch and the tank switch.Have to use the tank switch no matter what,no reason to use the kill switch unless it's absolutely necessary.It's probably there for liability issues as much as anything else.
yes, i believe you won't be able to start bike with power off.by the way , this can be answered in your owners maual. my answers may be dumb, but not reading your manual is also, well...... not so smart. if power is off, bike won't start. are you asking so you can power your ipod?cellphone while bike is off
