Unless I'm really itching to ride, below 50°F I won't. The coldest I've ridden was 36°F. It sucked.

I'll ride for long-ish rides down to about45F. I prefer it to be at least 50F.

In cold weather I wear Polar Fleece long underwear (tops and bottoms), jeans, a sweatshirt, and leather up. I stay
pretty comfortable except from the knees down. That part always seems to get cold.

Last weekend wifey and I went for a 2.5 hour ride, and it was 48F. She belly-ached a bit but I was quite comfortable.
The weekend before I rode alone on the Low Rider, about the same temp, about the same amount of time.

The way the sucky weather has been this fall, I'm tempted to get a snowmobile suit to stay warm and ride, ride, ride.
It might be the only way to get any more rides in this season.

I will go out with my windshield on if it's sunny low 50s for hours. Above 66 no windshield unless it's a very long freeway ride. After they salt the roads I'm done till spring.

It's amazing how much warmer you are with a hoodie under the leather jacket. I sweat all summer long in the leather jacket, but once it gets into the low 40's and below, I put on a hoodie beneath it and I am suddenly warm again. That and with chaps, which I just recently bought. I had no idea I could be so warm on a bike. I just thought freezing was part of the game.

I guess that's what I get for being new to bikin.....doh! All good now though.

I'll do 38-40 as long as I have my heated gloves. I also put liners in my jacket & pants, and use a scarf. Not as comfortable and free as riding when it's 70, but sometimes I just need to ride.

On the ride in this morning I remembered that my sister bought me a set of chaps for my birthday back in August. My legs were the part that got cold. That, and my hands. But my core stayed warm with that hoodie under my leather jacket...which kept me from shivering.

I think they taught us in a rider safety course that, when riding there is a 20 degree windchill. if it is 50 it will feel like 30 and so on. dress accordingly. At some point you would need heated gloves etc. I have been out with gloves on and my fingers weere frozen. it dont take much. I am thinking 50 is my magic temp, ot at least when i start thinking about cold weather gear.

When I lived in the midwest I had one, if I could get the bike started I rode. Was never a temp hard stop it was the kick starting A few of us did a new years day ride on a bet, it was 4 degrees out, wasn't a repeat the next year.
