There was a time about 20 years ago when you could arrange for pickup at the factory at York. A couple of friends of mine did just that in 1996 when they purchased his and hers Road Kings and took delivery at the factory.
The purchase had had to be arranged through a dealer and all taxes, delivery costs and fees paid. You traveled to York, got a tour of the factory (although not to see your specific bike built) and took delivery at the end of the tour.
That was many years ago, however.

You can pickup your new Volvo at a factory delivery center in Sweden. No doubt similar for Porsche, BMW and MBZ.

I work at Tesla Fremont Factory... New owners tour the plant daily as they take delivery of their cars.
People are always amazed at the manufacturing process. Even more amazed when they take the first ride and experience 0-60 under 3 seconds.
I rev my bike at the performance models after work just so they can smoke me.
