I have a Harley soft tail deluxe 2006 and want to put some chrome apes on it. I was curious what it will run me at Harley.

If you do it yourself just the cost of apes, cables and extension wires. At an Indy, maybe $300 tops. At a Harley dealership, $1,000 - $2,000. Choose wisely.

What it "should" cost won't be close to what it "will" cost.

I can't help much, I've always done my own but a friend of mine just had 14" apes installed at the dealer on his Street Glide. Cost him a little over $1200.

The cable kit alone will run you close to $400. Depending on the bars you choose plus other related parts you'll be between $700 to $1000 if you do the work yourself.

How many sets of Apes have you installed?? I've done several. Takes more than 2 hrs...where did you buy your extended cables and brake lines and other "parts" for $200??

If you didn't live so far away I would let you do mine in the future, lol...

.....more than it should.
on a bike like yours (without a fairing or nacelle) it's cake as long as you have moderate mechanical skills. you can even find bars that are internally pre-wired which makes it even easier. the hardest part is the clutch cable.
I suggest doing it yourself. you can always take it to an indy or the dealer if you get stuck but I highly doubt you'r that inept.

According to Apehanger University, handlebars cannot be more than 15" above the seat in Texas. Don't forget to include the cost of a ticket in your estimates.
