Default Number 6 of 19

Well,
About 10:45PM last night
It’s about 5:30AM right now as I write this.

Not the way I wanted to end Biketober Fest.

We had stopped off at the Last resort on our way home Saturday Night to get some memorabilia, have a smoke and stretch our legs.

All was going as planned and we were on our way back to the bikes when all Hell broke loose!

Screeching tires metal crashing against metal then I saw a Black Road King without a rider slide by me followed by a White SUV on its roof. My stomach dropped, as I ran around the corner I saw a long string of bikes smashed together and a few bikers down.

It wasn’t pretty. One guy was seriously injured and a few others hurt. Most managed to get out of the path of the SUV as it ripped through the PARKED bikes and riders.

My bike was number 6 of 19 destroyed by the white SUV. My friend’s was #5. After we got our bikes home about 3:30 I started to drink and I don’t usually drink. So if I misspelled anything..Sorry bout that.

I am thankful we weren’t on our bikes yet.

Hopefully the rider will make a full recovery. Also hope you took ALOT of pictures at the accident scene, and can prove you were there. That is a good reason you ALWAYS carry a camera with you. Lats hope the insurance companies do not mess around and pay up. I'd hate to call in that claim. 1/2 million worth of bikes, and a hopital bill added on as well.

I'm glad you are ok and hopefully you can get back on the road soon. Are thoughts and prayers are with the rider that was injured. We just never know?

Sorry to hear about your bike getting wrecked and also glad to hear that you weren't on it at the time. I was wondering what crazy excuse the driver of the SUV had for hitting the parked bikes?

Glad to hear that you weren't one of the ones hurt, that sucks when something like that happens and so many are affected.

After the initial shock of what happened….I did start to shoot pictures I got about 76 in all.

“Supposedly” there were two guys in the SUV, one jumped out and ran away, the other guy tried to say he wasn’t driving. He was under some kind of influence be it alcohol or other substance. The injured rider’s wife was able to “put him behind the wheel” for the cops. Once she IDd the guy, he confessed and the cops got it all on tape.

The SUV had to be going in excess of 60 mph to do that much damage and slide through that much Iron.

The first bike that got hit snapped in half, the next 3 only took cosmetic damage, they were rideable. I think the SUV was air borne at that time. The rest were un-rideable. My friend’s bike was the next to get hammered; it spun completely around and got shoved into the giant display chopper that sits out front of the bar. He just got his bike a couple of months ago too.

We had to drag my bike out of the way to help the EMTs get access the downed rider. His Road King looked like someone took a chain saw to it.

The frame is toast on my bike; the trail is off a little, so the front tire is kinda even with my rear brake master cylinder hehe.

Luckily we have a friend with a trailer; he came and got our bikes for us.

[:@] Now I have to prep for damn Hurricane Wilma…. LoL!

On a good note Detail Girl (my wife) got 3rd in a wet T-shirt contest at The Cabbage Patch Friday night! She should have won but it was rigged I tell you! They did it by Cheer vote and the girl that won had a lot of friends present. The girl that got 2nd was the band leader’s favorite and should have been disqualified for poppin a nip out….their rules no nipps hehe.

Awful stuff ! Sorry to hear about the rider, hope they heal quickly and completely. Also very sorry about the damage to the rides. Wife saw the post and said she firmly believes most mini-van operators have had a lobotomy. I cannot believe the number of people who will get behind the wheel when they are high/wasted. Bet you will eventually find out that this crash is not the driver's first rodeo ! My wife was hit by a semi in February...she is fine now. Truck driver was cited for crossing into her lane and hitting her, he even paid his fine. Florida's no fault law really screwed us when we tried to get things straightened out. We could not use the fact he was cited and paid his fine in court !!! Thank God she was not seriously injured and we had good insurance. Good luck with your ride !
