I thought someone would ask about that. That thing is my phone holder. It's a scosche magic mount xl. It has a magnet inside that puck looking thing and there's a flat piece of metal that can either be adhered to the phone itself or what I do is just place it under my case without using the adhesive. That way I can remove it beacause I do wireless charging and it interferes with that. It works great, and very strong, no vibrations at all. I used to mount it to my handlebar with a ram mount but it shook like crazy, so I started looking for a magnet and found this. You do have to adhere the puck to the tank, that may turn people off but not me.

that looks like it would work pretty good. Are you planning on just using this or the battery tender way? To have the battery tender option is why I'm reinventing the wheel so to speak. Only thing I'd have to do is cut the heat shrink and redo after winter.

I was thinking of hooking to the accessory plug in the electrical panel using the adapter harley makes. (hooks to diagnostic port)

I ran a thick 2 strand cable under my tank and followed the throttle cables. Attached my USB Battery Tender there. I hooked up to the wires to the bike, nothing on the battery. I like to have just the power on the battery.

Initially I had a USB cable from the battery to bars. It didn't draw enough power, it barely charged. So again off comes the tank.

That USB Battery Tender pulls a draw. Very little but I was surprised. You'd think if nothing was plugged in no power drawn.

I've done it many times. No dead battery in the morning yet. Not even a slow cranking battery yet.
