LOL. I use to own a 22 ft Boston Whaler center console and quickly learned that the word boat is actually an acronym for "Bring On Another Thousand". I currently own a single engine airplane and while not really expensive to maintain from a routine maintenance perspective, when something breaks even the simplest part can be stupid expensive compared to the exact same item on other vehicles (lots of reason for that but I don't won't go into that here).
Aircraft parts are expensive because every part manufacturer is sued after a crash.

Partly. I’d argue that an inelastic supply and demand environment coupled with low volume production and burdensome certification requirements (where required) are bigger drivers to overall cost than the liability insurance pass-on.
Yeah the tires are expensive, but would you agree that the bigger the tires the longer they last?
That certainly wasn't my experience. I was lucky to get 8k miles on a set on my Fatboy. That was with OEM Dunlops and Michelin Commander II's both. The skinnier OEM tires on my Heritage went 15k. The front probably had another 2k or so and the rear probably 5 but I changed them out at the same time I replaced the spoke wheels.
The wife is always giving me hell about how expensive my 07 Fat-boy is to maintain. Yeah the tires are expensive, but would you agree that the bigger the tires the longer they last? I use synthetic oil so I go longer between changes. What everyone's opinion about the pricy maintenance for a Harley, is it really worth it?
Sounds like u got the wrong wife.
Add up how much she spends on gurly crap she dont need.
She DOEs want u to be happy right? Then why would she get in your way. She should be SUPPORTING YOUR HAPPINESS. Not like u r doing coke or the like.

Right on. My wife knows and cares as much about my bike, guns etc. as I know and care about her purses, cosmetics, fancy shampoo, conditioner, monthly manicure/pedicures, spa days, mall days, massage, girls wine night and the list goes on and on. Who cares. I could trade my bike in tomorrow she would never notice, as long as it's Vivid Black and has Harley-Davidson on the tank.

Bulls eye mate. After reading that I was thinking.:
1) Look how MANY things (categories) you named on her part.
2) Sometimes my wife is asked why you "let" your husband ride so much. (Meaning around the USA/Canada) and she would respond with.......... "Let?" He does what he wants. And also "Why would I get in his way when he loves it so much?"
G-d forbid ALL women to support their husbands. <-- Said ever so sarcastically.
