Lucky me, one wall of my ground floor office is glass, and in the rare event I actually show up at the office, I can sit at my desk, look up, and see it out there in all it's black/gold/chrome glory.
But I wasn't always so lucky. Unless you work in a war zone, just park it where you're supposed to and chillax about it. Or, get a cheap beater bike, insure it, and pray it gets stolen (hint: it won't).
How do cameras prevent or stop crime? I've seen large businesses whose cameras show that it was big foot, or any other humaniod.
The cameras are a deterrent. I lock the rotors & the forks. It's the best I can do. If the bike gets stolen I can't exactly walk into the dealer & find another FXR.....
I too think your bike will be okay...unless you are in an area of high theft.
So, I recommend a wireless alarm - with secondary battery....if your bike is moved you get a page.
I'd bet if one wanted to steal your bike they would use a lift and tow truck.
Chain w/ lock would be easily defeated, hidden kill switch not applicable in a tow.
Good luck.
When I was working, our entire perimeter at the plant was fenced and gated. Had to have a scan card to get in. The motorcycle parking area was next to the rear door, but next to the fence. Parked and never worried.
I too park in all sorts of public, accessible areas. I guess I just don't worry too much. Lock what I can, and do my business.
