This is exactly how I'm going to do it, but I'm thinking there's going to be some sparking going on when I hook up the negative side of the new battery after installing it, with the ignition turned on, and the lights wanting to turn on with the ignition in the on position.
Recently replaced mine. Followed instruction in Owners Manual. 2014 Dyna
Removing old battery:
FOB near bike turn ignition ON to disable alarm.
Disconnect negative cable first. Then positive.
Installing new battery:
Connect positive first. Then negative.
Turn ignition off.
Thats it
That's how I do it on my Wide Glide. Every once in a while I have not thought about the alarm and disconnected the battery with out the disarming the alarm only to be in a hurry to reconnect so I can silence the alarm. I just did this, this past Saturday, but I was prepared for the alarm.
could you someone shoot me a photo of what and where the main fuse is? i kept getting alarm going off and sparks flying every where when i reconnect the battery.
my bike is harley breakout 2017 model if it helps anyone.

I think what you described is the way the instructions that came with my alarm said to do it but that didn't work for me. My owners manual says to turn on the ignition then remove the main fuse. You should turn the ignition off before reinstalling the fuse.
