Fuel Moto E-Series Slip-On Review
We all know that exhaust makes a big difference in how our bikes run. Too restrictive and throttle response is sluggish. Too un-restrictive and it gets loud. As someone who uses the bike for touring purposes loud exhausts do not work for me. But at the same time, I need the power of an unrestricted exhaust to help me get around those pesky semi-trucks on two lane roads. Enter the Fuel Moto E-Series slip on. Quiet - not much louder than stock. But efficient, much like an open design like the Supertrapp Stout (which was my preference before).
Back story - I bought these E-Series from the "garage sale" when Fuel Moto was moving. Let's just say I got one helluva deal. I was very exited to get these bad boys on the bike, but it was in storage. So I waited.....and waited.....and finally it got close enough to April 1st to get my bike back. Sure, it was 39 degrees and flurries, but what the hell. Anyway, the bike wasn't home for 12 hours when I tossed them on.
They installed very easily - great fit and finish. I elected to "tune" my exhaust to even out the sound levels. I did 9 disks on the right, and 11 (more discs = less restrictive) on the left in an attempt to even out the sound. Did it do anything? I think so. It sounds very balanced whereas before the right side was always louder. I could be FOS, but so what?
There was another benefit that I was unaware of. Because the E-Series is a tapered slip-on, there is more clearance for the axle nut. This is a big deal for guys like me who run longer shocks. I could easily do 14 inch shocks vs the 13.5s on there now.
Today was a nice day, so I was anxious to test them out. They sounded great in the garage - nice low rumble. But I was unsure how they would be on the road. I am pleased to say they sounded great. Nice tone, but not loud. Maybe a touch louder than stock. And throttle response? Fantastic! I was like running my open Supertrapps but without the noise.
I have to say, I am very impressed with these slip-ons. fairly quiet, like I like, but with decent power. It's a win/win for me. Nice work fuel Moto!

Glad you like them. I've got the tunable Supertrapps on both bikes and really like them. I was able to replace the Thunderheaders on the bagger without losing any HP, I did drop in Tq because I liked the quiet for cruising but they still bark when I get on them. After having a tunable mufflers I can't imagine running anything else.
How do you get Cheryl to ride on that seat ?

I was going to just put it back together, but I noticed the frame is pretty scratched up and the tank and fenders have a really shitty repaint. As much as I like to retain originality, I'll go full restoration on this one.
When I bought it. That fairing is an Avon and it has lowers (not installed). It's very collectible, but I don't like it on this bike because the headlight shell is really a highlight on the /5s. Maybe I'll find a ratty /6 and put it on that. With a much smaller windshield too.
They way it looked before taking it apart this Winter -

We were just talking about the seat yesterday. She mentioned that the bike looked much better with the little seat, but there's no way she could ride on that for more than a mile. I have a touring seat and a backrest or tourpack when she's on the bike (pictured above).
