Going to Sturgis. I could never figure out why Harley doesn't launch their new models there. Guess it doesn't make sense to do this while 200,000 of your most loyal customers are in the neighborhood?

Because years ago, one Cali dealer whined to the MOCO that the Sturgis dealer would unfairly be given an advantage if they showed the new bikes during Rally week.

I would let them whine. Most would go home and buy a bike from their local dealer.
They should show the new bikes at Sturgis if they had any sense.

I would say it is better to have them come into the dealer, when they didn't plan too. Maybe buy some HD panties or such. You already go them at Rapid City or Stugis anyways. I think spreading things out is better. But just a wild guess.
Reminds me of when bar owner told me he doesn't like when St Patricks day is on weekend, rather a slow week night.
I would display some break through model at Sturgis to get it exposure. But most people are cooing over a new chrome fender nut.
The terminology in this thread is all over the map and difficult to follow. The 2018 lineup was Electraglide Ultra Classic and Ultra Limited. 1/2 way through 2018 the Electraglide Standard was introduced and the Ultra Classic was discontinued.
The Ultra Classic was not selling.
One rumor I did hear was the Road Glide Ultra will also be disappearing and the Ultra Limited will take its place getting the same Limited treatment as the Electraglide.
To me it looks like they are dropping or trying to minimize the 107 air/oil cooled M8 in favor of the water cooled head 114 version.
The Ultra is gone and even though the dealer show didnt happen yet, the dealers have plenty of information. They are already placing their orders for the first wave. I also know this because factory employees order their bikes ahead of time if they want specific colors or upgrades. My friend that gets an Ultra every year has been told he will have to upgrade to the Limited which will no longer include adjustable fairing wind deflectors or heel shifter.
Someone in another thread said the Sportys will be offered in Bubble Gum Pink. Is that a fact or is someone just busting on the Sportys?
That will be the XL Really Really Special. I heard it comes with matching panties and purse.. I also heard there will be a Snowflake Special - It whines a lot, wont go to work, had a manbun cutout helmet and will have any Occupy Wall St march instantly loaded to the GPS. (Fake facial hair not included)
They should've just kept ultra and dropped limited if they were to drop anything. And add limited stuff to road glide ultra and left the Ultra name Ultra limited doesn't make sense if there is no ultra. Kinda of like when there was classic and ultra classic. I'm sure ultra limited is more appealing marketing wise.
