After many years of riding I’ve finally bought my first Harley. I’m new to this forum and I’ve noted there are four subjects that really get some people riled, waving, commenting on the quality of HD, admitting to having owned anything other than HD, and rich urban bikers. Yes, I wave, yes I’m concerned about the quality of my $20K+ purchase, and yes I’ve owned other makes. There I’ve said it! Am I in RUB Club? Well, I rode a Honda from ’83-’01, rode a Suzuki from 05’-07’ and my wife and I both owned a couple of trial bikes we used when we took the family camping. For the past 2+ years, I ride to the office everyday and take pleasure rides most weekends. I’ve been married 30 happy years, raised two kids who never gave us any trouble, don’t drink, quit smoking 25 years ago, own a nice home, was the CTO of an international software company with only a high school education, don’t have any tattoo’s, never been arrested (never even got a parking ticket) and work in an office where no one owns a bike let along has the ‘desire’ to ride one. Rich is a life style and I love to ride. If these are the things that define RUB, then I’ll proudly wear that badge with great honor. Where do I get the patch, and where does it go on my shiny new leather vest[sm=smiley36.gif]?
IMO, you either ride or you dont. Everyone is new to riding at some point. As long as the ride is what is important then being a RUB or whatever else you wanna call it doesnt mean anything.
im a rub and proud of it .when i got my first sportster in 73 i was **** broke had to use it as my main ride for acouple of yrs then i got another sportster in the mid eighties i didnt have much money then .now i got an 04 sporty i got a good job i got a couple of bucks i still have passion for riding .if that makes me a rub i guess im it
Seems you haven’t been here that long, you forgot a few things that rile folks up:
What oil do you use
Do you wear chaps
Loud pipes
Do you wear a helmet
Etc.
Now with that said, you admit that you know this topic riles folks up, yet you post anyway. You said you’re proud of your title (mighty proud) so it seems you really don’t care if other folks dub you a RUB, so with that said I guess what I’m not getting is the point of this thread…are you bragging?
You forgot an option in your poll…”who the hell cares”. I only care if you’re an *** or not, the rest really ain’t all that important.
For the mods: Can we get a RUB Forum? It seems that everyone is either a RUB or not a RUB and a separate forum might just move 50% of the RUB traffic to that forum.
Oh, and a Wave forum too. Please.
