You have two options to get the Boom system through Bluetooth.

WHIM- connects to most Sena headsets, but will only play one speaker, if not the HD branded Sena

Freewire- Connects with most Sena headsets and plays in stereo

I run this Bell along with Sena SMH10 and a Gopro. A bit heavy but very comfortable and one of the quietest helmets I've ever owned. The only downside for me is I wear sunglasses with built in readers and these helmets are very difficult to get sunglasses on but doable with a little effort. Because of the need for readers the drop down sunshade is useless for me. A lot of reviews say these are noisy but with my speakers installed I haven't had that issue. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/...o-helmet-solid I have the similar Harley/Bell 3/4 helmet that the Sena actually fits into a recess on the side where it's less exposed. With the correct speaker/mic setup you can mount these to pretty much any helmet. Revzilla has several really good videos when you look at these showing mounting how to and setup.

And it kept me nice and warm in the 30 degree temps at elevation in Colorado on my Dyna.

Don't bother with the WHIM.

There's no reason to tether your BT to the bike's infotainment system. Just go straight from your phone to your BT. Your phone does everything and more better than the head unit will ever do.

What I do but since my Iphone is connected to both the Sena and the Boom when it rings it rings in the stereo speakers and the phone ask whether to answer in Boom (which it really can't on my bike) or the headset. I have to select headset. I do not have the WHIM unit.

I use the Cardo PackTalk Slim, and I love it. It has the JBL speakers, and they sound pretty good for their size. I am impressed.

I (pardon the pun) hear that.
Though I really like my '18 Road Glide the Infortainment Boom thing is just a waste of money and provides extra weight.

Also, as an analogue guy stuck in a digital world, do i need anything special to make my iPhone work with a helmet installed Bluetooth headset with Harley's infotainment system?

I seek the counsel of the collective brain-trust here. Thank you all in advance.
I also have the HJC IS-Max, I use foam ear plugs, world of difference. I use the Cardo Packtalk for blue tooth, connect my phone to it. I do not use the infotaintment for anything other than Nav.

Same thing here: HJC IS-MAX 2 and ear plugs. It's amazing how much clearer EVERYTHING sounds: the radio, the headset, etc. Ear plugs cut out the wind noise but leave everything else.
