Cardo PackTalk Bold

Less wind interferance than Sena, has auto audio adjustment based on background noise and can be controlled by voice commands

My wife and I use the bilt modular bt helmets from cycle gear. The are comfortable for the long haul. Sound quality is great for the bt and intercom, not so much for music. For the price, I'm definitely not complaining.

I've used various models of sena and other brands, and I like the sound/microphone better on my hilt helmet more than any other setup I've used.

Matt,
Only because of your post here did I become aware of the Bilt BT helmet; thank you. I am a fan of modular helmets and am considering the Bilt 2.0. I ordered and received a Sena SMH-10 from Amazon; it didn't work! Darned thing just wouldn't power up after a full day of charge - the charging light wouldn't come on. Called Sena and was advised of doing a reset - twice. No joy. They said i could send it in and it wouls take 2-3 weeks for it (or a replacement) to be sent out. It's going back to Amazon.
I started out not being an Amazon fan and this affair kind of soured me on Sena. While i do like the idea of swapping a unit from one helmet to another, the Bilt seems to get you a decent modular helmet for not much coin once subtracting the value of the BT comm device.

Bilt helmets: How would you rate the sizing? Do they run true to indicated size or a little snug as some reviews suggest? I'm a medium in HJC and would like to know what size Bilt to order.

I would suggest to take a trip to your local cycle gear (if you have one) and try them on. I find they do run a little small, but they do break in. If you don't have one, use Amazon prime so you can order a couple sizes and return the ones that don't fit.

I typically wear a medium with shoei and scorpion helmets. The medium in bilt was fairly tight, but the large was comfortable, but a little bit loose. I ended up getting the medium. Now the medium fits very well.

I have a comfortable HJC IS-Max 2 Modular Helmet which I like - but it is noisy (wind noise) at speed. I have several HJC helmets and while that brand seems to fit my head shape the most comfortably, I am thinking about a different modular for this trip - something that is quieter and can be rigged up for Bluetooth so I can make/take some work calls while doing the miles t/f Sturgis.

Also, as an analogue guy stuck in a digital world, do i need anything special to make my iPhone work with a helmet installed Bluetooth headset with Harley's infotainment system?

I seek the counsel of the collective brain-trust here. Thank you all in advance.
If you like your current helmet and it's only the wind noise that bothers you, buy some inexpensive from ear plugs at CVS and use then with your helmet. It'll quiet things down significantly, but you'll still be able to hear your bluetooth.

Wind noise goes WAY down and CLARITY goes way UP. Everything is easier to hear.

Went to Cycle Gear and picked up the Bilt Sena Blue Tooth helmet today. I like modular helmets and while this one isn't a great one - it is great value when considering the Sena unit is included.

headset from Sena is very nice as well which will allow all your calls and music and intercom.
I also have the Shoei Neotec II and am considering the Sena SRL. I take it you like the system pretty well?
Are you running a Freewire with it?
