Making plans to ride out to Sturgis from the east coast in late July; I will travelling alone.
I have a comfortable HJC IS-Max 2 Modular Helmet which I like - but it is noisy (wind noise) at speed. I have several HJC helmets and while that brand seems to fit my head shape the most comfortably, I am thinking about a different modular for this trip - something that is quieter and can be rigged up for Bluetooth so I can make/take some work calls while doing the miles t/f Sturgis.
Also, as an analogue guy stuck in a digital world, do i need anything special to make my iPhone work with a helmet installed Bluetooth headset with Harley's infotainment system?
I seek the counsel of the collective brain-trust here. Thank you all in advance.
lightweight bob,
Thank you for that reply.
I am considering if I could get maybe get by with my HJC (as it fits me and is comfortable) but thinking about addressing the wind noise.
Anyone running the Sena SMH 10 with the Harley infotainment?
I’m under the impression that you can pair any Bluetooth communicator or phone (Sena, Cardo, etc) to the infotainment system, but don’t know for sure. I’m sure someone will chime it to either confirm or deny. FWIW my wife rocks an HJC RPHA 90 modular helmet with a Cardo PackTalk Slim communicator paired to her iPhone and loves it. No infotainment experience though as she rides a Lowrider and I ride a Slim.
I have the Sena 20S on my helmet tied into my HD touring infotainment system. Works great, most don't even know I'm riding when we're talking. Can scroll through my iPhone phone contacts rt on the into screen.
Even with the sena smh 10 I believe you will need a wireless headset interface modual(whim) $300. To use the boom audio, it wont have all the functions of the hd branded sena 20 s evo. I dont know if you have thought about utilising ear plugs? I run a open face hjc with a face sheild mine too is loud. I upgraded from a 10 to the hd branded 20 s this year. Still struggling to get all my audio and navigation set up
I listen to music mostly with my bluetooth and I’ve tried Sena SMH10 and 10S both with disappointing sound, now I have the Cardo Freecom 4+ with JBL and am pleased with the sound on it. Way better sound with even a little bass, the Sena sounded like I was listening to an old am radio
For music Sena 30 spearkers are horrible!!! you may as well have 2 cans and a string. This is with a shoei Neotec. Really bad tinny and no volume with or without foam ear plugs. I just can't say enough bad about them.
