Oh cool, Rounders is here to barf all over another thread. Footwear advice from Rounders, I am sure everybody will take note!
This thread is relevant for me, my Wolverine USA boots (which you cannot get anymore) finally sprung a leak in a downpour in Canada, so I am on the hunt.
I have narrowed it down to Danner, this time. I found these, one of their imported models, though. Waterproof and aluminum toe https://www.danner.com/styles/boots/...-black-al.html
I look for composite toe, and have the foot surgery to prove what happens when I don't do this
While I personally prefer dedicated motorcycle boots that provide more protection than "biker boots" or "work boots" on those occasions where I just don't want want to go Power Ranger I like the Chippewa rally boots and, if you like logger style boots (as I do) it's hard to beat the Danner Super Rainforest, Quarry or Rainforest - in that order.

Barf on a thread, because I gave my opinion? Isn't that what we are all doing here? If anyone, it is you and your pissy whining like a _____.
You can keep the hard soled sewn on boots from a 100 years ago, I will take injection molded work boots like tennis shoes. I wear work boots all day at work, and all night.
Also as I said, by the time soles are worn, IMO, the rest of boot is worn out too. When I buy new pair I notice the difference.
Technology improves with time, and tine wears out everything.
Man am I jealous of some of this foot wear… like so many clothing choices when it coming to fit me, they’re just not an option. Be great full if you have normal feet and can buy clothes, shoes from regular retailers.
Shoes are a nightmare for me. I don’t buy what I like… I buy what will fit and the selection is really limited. I’m a size 13, not to rare or tough to find, but I’m also a size 5E - 6E wide. Meaning custom ordered custom made shoes offered in the style of “boot” and “black” and that’s about where my choices end.
I’m not diabetic, But my only decent option is custom made diabetic shoes from a company called Doctor Comfort. Hey, their black and look normal that’s as much style and protection I can get I suppose.

The other thing I look for now, and don't know why it took so long, and why all shoes and boots are not, are asyemtrical toes. First big company to do it I know of is red wing with the king toes. I have damaged feet, which is why pay attention to this. For sagety toe especially, I won't buy, rounded toes, doesn't even know when they make them.
I have a pair of pronhorns arrving today 400g, bought them for hunting, but might make them my after work boot, rather than insulated safety toes. I wear my work boots all day.
Custom orthotics are expensive, I got 2 pairs a year from insurance. I also buy merino wool socks, and buy them oftem. Don't get in the mindset like you do with your boots, that they look ok, so keep wearing them. Replace them.
Another area to look at is tactical, first responder and military boots, to get away from the traditional work boot and something comfortable Also looking at non tradional brands. Many of the guys at work went to keen. Many of them didn't hold up. I had eyelet fall off so they sent me new pair. They don't seem as deep for my orthoptics though, so probably not buying another.
I don't plan on handing these boots down to my grandkids, wear them and get a new pair.
*1 on the daytona...Not only do they fulfill the needs of a motorcycle boot- specifically, but they are also NOT made in China. Mine were made in Germany.
