Dunlops do very well in wet weather are are an outstanding all around tire. 2006 FB is a cruiser not a cafe racer.

Please be careful. It sounds like there are better bikes on the market for your style of riding. I recommend body armor as well.

Avon Cobras are the best tires for UK. Made in the UK taking into account the sh1tty climatic conditions and roads we have to endure over here if you need rubber recommendations for your next swap out.

These have both been facts for me. Never had any wet weather problems on Dunlops, and I'm sure I have leaned my Ultra more in a corner without scraping parts than I ever did on the '16 Fatboy I sold. Fatboy would scrape turning into my neighborhood. Same road, same turn, never on the Ultra. Not much clearance on those Fatboys.

So there's probably a fair bit of safe lean to go on the FB after the boards start scraping? I have noticed the 1" chicken-strips on the rear.

Obviously the boards need to be able to push up nicely on their hinges instead of digging in and lifting the wheel. I'm not looking to make a habit of it but it's nice to know they're not designed to indicate the bike's safe limit.

Once your floorboards hit that is Max lean angle and you can not turn any sharper.
I totalled a touring bike in a corner when my floorboards scraped. It was leaned as far as it would go and ran out of road. I broke 5 ribs and damn near killed me and my wife. A tourer has a pretty good lean angle compared to a Softail.
That sounds like you went over the edge of the tyre?

I'm on my third Fatboy and I've scraped boards on every one. I've come to enjoy it. After the first few times, you get used to it and it brings a chuckle every time.

It takes a long time to grind the boards down to the point they need to be replaced. I've never reached that point. Ride like hell and grind those boards.

I've been watching some youtube vids and it looks like even coming close to the boards is considered aggressive on a Softail. So I'll make that my limit I guess (+ 1cm ).

Thanks for the input guys, appreciate it.

Scraping floorboards is a reasonable limit for corner lean angle on a Harley. If you want to corner harder, buy something more sporty.
