Default 1984 FLT Question

I just purchased a 1984 FLT from a friend. I did it to help him out but now I'm getting excited about it. It has a chrome eagle head on the front fender and the tank sticker has an eagle head pointed to the front. Can anyone tell me anything about the bike. I have never seen these features anywhere. Thanks for your help!!!

I believe the emblem are stock from the factory from that year. You could reference old Harley sales catalogues or search the web for info on that year. They appear stock from the motor company.

The tank decals are stock Harley. I remember those on new bikes when I would go into the dealers and buy parts back in the mid 80s. I had a 1975 Electra Glide that had been repainted and it had those decals on it, which is the only reason I specifically remember them. I don't recall the chrome eagle head.

The chrome eagle head can be found in the J&P catolog, Drag Specialies carries it also. Aftermarket item.

I would agree that the fender emblem is an aftermarket item as well because a co-worker has one on his 05' Ultra that he picked up from his elderly uncle. Something that I believe the older riders tend to like?

The tank emblem is most likely the decal used in that era as I once had a 81' FLT with a slightly different eagle decal on the tank.

Should be a good ride for ya!

The fender ornament is pretty common around here, I see quite a few. J&P Cycle Fender Ornaments

Congrats on the bike.

Yeah, I was gonna say...the bike looks like an FLHS, known as the Electra Glide Sport. It had a windshield, front and back crash bars, saddlebags, and the infamous 'pod' for the speedo, tach and fuel gauge. Man I loved them pods. I know some folks like to say its not a real Harley without the lope, or a carb, or a kicker, or even iron heads.....but real Harleys had pods.

I think you are thinking of a FLHT with the fixed fairing?
My 84 FLHS did not have a windshield, bags and had a normal speedo.
This is not my bike but it's what mine did look like when brand new.
I believe the FLHS was also the last production run of 84 excluding some Police bikes.

Beautiful FLHS. The earliest ones came stripped down like in your picture. I think HD started offering them around 1978 or 79 in that configuration. I had a used 1991 I bought. By then they came standard like I described - bags, crash bars, windshield, and the beloved pod. I bought the 1991 used around 2007 because it looked just like the 1990 I wanted to buy new in the fall of 1990 but couldn't get to Vernal UT due to snow. I settled for a new 1990 FXRT in Green River WY. Great bike and I wish I still had it......but no pod! The Road King ended up being spawned from what ran down the Electra Glide Sport's leg.
