2009 883 wiring mess!!
Hi all! I bought my first Harley about a year ago and to be honest I was so excited about finally getting a bike, that I didn't do my do diligence when I bought it. I want to change the tail lights and when I took the seat off I find this mess of wires!
I'm no wiring expert, but I am a DIY kind of person.
I'm not sure if scrapping everything and starting from scratch would be the way to go, that's where I'm leaning, so please steer me in the right direction. Should I get a new wiring harness? Any suggestions on which one to get?
Hope the pictures tell the story, let's see if I attached the YouTube link correctly.
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!!
I'm also planning on changing the front signal lights

Any time someone adds something like lights to a bike they usually hack into the middle of the harness somewhere, or in your case they tap into the whole connector that feeds the tail light assembly. Yours looks like the latter. I'd start with just ripping out all that crap wiring and garbage that clearly isn't OEM wiring, then go to the dealership to buy a Factory Service Manual so you'll have an accurate wiring diagram.

With that overabundance of yellow wire, and those shitty blue connectors, you should get a new wiring harness.
Here's one:

Somebody made a hell of a lot of work for you.
