Default Pull a trailer with bike

We were on our way home from NM-CO trip and passed a bad motorcycle wreck just passed Amarillo Sunday on I-40.

Found out it was a fatality and was most likely caused by a trailer swaying and causing the rider to lose control of bike.

Just a heads up.

Trailer sway is usually caused by improper loading. RIP.

Sounded like he was an experienced rider. I-40 speeds may have contributed.

There's no way I'd pull a trailer with a motorcycle.
RIP to the downed rider.

This.

I've pulled both a cargo trailer and popup camper with my bikes over 100,000 miles over the years. Speeds up to 80mph on the highway.

This pic was taken today after returning from the shooting range.

As long as they are loaded correctly with proper tongue weight, never an issue.

We have logged many miles with trailer in tow. I don't even know it is behind us.

Default And it is.....what?

Over the last few years I've learned a lot of the HD Forum, even after 45+ years of riding. So educate me -- many of you have emphasized that pulling a trailer is no problem, if its properly loaded. No one has said what "properly loaded" is. Why don't you use the opportunity to educate the rest of us. Not being a smart ***, just encouraging you to share your knowledge.

Is that the Harbor Freight trailer? How do you like it?

I carry approximately 250 pounds of gear in our trailer. I try to keep tongue weight at approximately 25 to 30 lbs. I have the heaviest portion of the weight directly above the axle. Then load remaining items to achieve desired tongue weight. This has always worked for me.
