Just got those for wife and I. I believe you tap the scroll wheel ti mute intercom still allowing other audio. That is in dmc mode. Bluetooth mode which is what we always had with sena is manual on/off I think. Vox never worked well with sena.
I have the PackTalk, and we don't have the newer HD radio system. I can't offer much other than my buddy and I have pretty good luck with these units. We can listen to music and it subsides when we talk back and forth. Maybe you can try to connect with each other and not bluetooth the units to your bikes?? We have ours bluetooth to our phones for music, and are connected to each other for communication.

that mutes the intercom all together and puts the music or audio source you are listening to into the lowest volume. that is meant to talk to someone in person like at a gas station.

we are not connected via BT to the bikes.
so after a few days i did get a reply to my email about the situation. they suggested some weird thing that would not work for us anyway but did however supply the fact that the mute mic only function is on the list of upgrades for the next firmware release in september. we go on our trip in august but it is good to know that it should be an option for us soon.
