Since the Emissions standards ara getting ever more strict (Euro 5 specifically)....the replacement of Sportster EVO engine was just a matter of time.
Just think that the engine is essentially the same from 1986 with some upgrades over the years....but still an 80's engine.
And if you give a major thinking, the last time the Sportster family received a "major" overhaul was in 2004 when it received the new frame and rubber mounts.
But STILL a good one, as far as pushrod, air cooled V-twins go. Be curious to know what the reliability stats are comparing the Sportster EVO with all the other motors HD has come out with since.
On topic, I was told only the 500 Street was being dropped.
So add touring line receiving water cooled engine.
Indian is going that route, some are hoping the T111 is being kept but its not a guarantee.
I really would love to see a new chassis under the touring line, they are really porky and could stand to lose five to ten percent of their weight. I have high hopes for Harley's new line of engines, really gives them an opportunity to try new model types without alienating the existing base. They can both exist side by side.
2020 is shaping up to be an amazing year with Harley, BMW, and Indian, all making big moves.
More $60 dollar T- Shirts ,free hot dogs and No problem found from your service writer. And any changes made will result in a sticker price increase from a company that is already in rough waters.
I'd love to see a lighter full tourer. And I'll go ahead and say it... similar to the new Gold Wing. My 17 Ultra Limited was nice, but a barge, as was my 03 EG Classic. Loved them both, but like to see a smaller, lighter setup.
About as sure a thing as Harley selling bikes in 2020 in Vivid Black. People will buy a Harley whether new or used, and bitch, ****, moan, etc... about how underpowered they are, how over priced they are, how bad the dealers are, how bad the service is, how expensive the t-shirts are, the Taj Mahal dealerships, blah, blah, blah, ad nauseam...
Oh, and anyone who is actually satisfied with the Harley Davidson they bought, will continue to jumped on by some as nothing more than a fanboy. As Rush Limbaugh would say, "don't doubt me on this"...

Only thing that has changed from a 2007 SG and 2019 SG is they painted the chrome, bigger engine and fancy radio, that SG in 2007 was $16,500 and the 2019 is $28,000 ,Stay in the HD game long enough you will find the biggest change is the price from year to year. The good old pan motor would take me to the tavern just as fast as the fancy new M8.

I'm partial to say anything about the Sportster because I do love 'em (since I've got one) and feel that they are marvelous machines....but on a rational side, the engine won't live much longer due to emissions....(and I ain't selling mine)
