Something new and annoying, like oil migration, cam chain tensioners, can’t find neutral.

I heard that the Electra Glide Standard is returning but will replace the Road King standard as well..there will be two trim levels--fairing and solo seat and windshield with two-up seat..at least that's what I heard. Whether it is true is another story. But it makes a lot of sense. The Road King standard isn't a big seller.

An Electra Glide Standard with a windshield and two up seat is pretty much a Road King standard.

I heard all the touring bikes will be electric. Range will be 90 miles and charge time will be 2-4 hours.

That will be the future at some point.

My dealer sold their first one fairly quickly. The second one they received has just sat there... The riders who wanted one bought it. No matter how many were geeked about it, they apparently were the minority.

Harley had one model year in the past half-century or so without the Sportster name in their lineup. I think they were going with the then popular Japanese flow of naming everything with alphanumeric designations They learned names do mean something and I doubt they'll ever have a model line without a Sportster again. No doubt the thirty-some year old air-cooled Evo twin is not long for this world. I'd love to see the Sportster with a modern engine and frame to compete with the best of the foreign bikes.

I was at a local dealer yesterday, and they had 6 on the floor! Nice bike but if you want a radio, and chrome motor, you're better off getting the StreetGlide standard. Price point is just too high yet.

But then would it really be a Harley-Davidson?

That’s my biggest issue with my new ‘19 Heritage. It’s fast, powerful, handles, brakes and rides great. By every measure it’s a “better” motorcycle than my old Evo, but there’s nothing about it that says “Harley-Davidson” to me. If it weren’t for the H-D logos everywhere I could be riding a Kawasaki or a Yamaha or a Suzuki for all I could tell. In making it “better” they’ve engineered out the character, style and panache that made the Harley-Davidson unique in all the motorcycle world.

Okay, I’ll admit that’s a bit harsh, but I’m still bitter over losing the bike I had for 25 years to a careless cager last spring. I miss the distinction of owning and riding a “classic” Harley-Davidson.
