Thnaks Guys - From what I am reading, one can use these methods (0000 Steel Wool, Lemon Pledge, Mother's Mag Polish), on the chromed exhaust shields as well? Or is it best just to wipe down with soapy water and towel dry with a soft chamois?
What about the chromed rear wheel of the FXSTC?
best

I use Mother's Chrome Polish on the Big Shot Longs on my FLSTCI, as well as on both the front and rear wheels. Apply with a soft cloth, count to ten, wipe with another soft cloth (I use cut-up old cotton T-shirts). Pledge is okay for a touch-up, though I use it mostly on the black parts of the engine; it brings the black right back!
I use 0000 wool on all my chrome where needed. I usually just use it on the bugs that melt to the pipes and other stuff that doesn't come off with soap and water.
have yet to see the 0000 in a store, where do I look???
Lowes, Home Depot, Ace, True Value, all should have it. I get mine from either Lowes or Home Depot
I don't think the rear wheel is chromed on the fxstc, at least mine isn't. Did a test with simichrome polish and it definately turned the towel black. This is after I removed all brake dust. Many products out there for polished aluminum like Flitz, Autosol, Simichrome . Don't use a circular motion when doing this, but travel around the rim. Ron
I just finished cleaning my bike a few hours ago and I used plain old Turtle Wax Chrome Polish. It works great, got all the marks and water spots off. The best thing is it's cheaper than most of the other "fancy" polishes.
