When I had my first Dyna my wife rode a total of about 100 miles on the back the entire 3 years I had it, she never even sat on the back of my second Dyna. I traded my Super Glide for an Electra Glide, which is basically a Road King with a fixed fairing and she rode more in the first 2 weeks than she did in 3 years on the Dyna. I have had 2 Road Kings since then and she enjoys riding on both of them.
Vlad, since you posted that your budget was for a 2003-2005 model Harley-Davidson Road King, Dyna or Sportster
with most responses recommending the Road King which is spot-on, there are 3 different Road King models you
can look into.
1) Road King FLHR/FLHRI is the standard model with hard bags.
2) Road King Classic FLHRC/FLHRCI is the retrostyled model with leather bags.
3) Road King Custom FLHRS/FLHRSI is the model without the ornamentation and has leather covered hard bags.
Keep in mind that the 2003-2005 Dynas and Road Kings need the OEM spring loaded cam chain tensioners
upgraded to the newer hydraulic cam chain tensioners especially after 25,000 miles if not already done.
You really know the key to a happy marriage. I will do just that. Posted the add to sell my beemer and already spotted some nice looking used Road Kings !
Thank you guys !
Yes sir I have been married to the same lady for 39 years. No thinks for the Dyna they are not comfortable for the wife,. mine will tell you so. I had a 2000 Wide Glide and I loved it, but my wife hated it, but she loves my Road King.

^^^This. I have owned a 2003 FLHRI with the hard bags and I now own an 09 FLHRC with leather bags. I like the look of the leather bags a little better and I think I can get more stuff in them. However if I were doing a lot of long distance rides I would want the hard bags for the fact that they lock. The leather bags do not lock so security on the road could be an issue.
As for the cam tensioners, I truly believe this issue is waaay over hyped. I've owned 3 different TC 88 motors and never suffered any catastrophic failure. I inspected the tensioners at every oil change and they barely wore at all. As a matter of fact my 04 Electra Glide had close to 50000 miles on her when I traded it in and the tensioners had just a tiny amount of scoring on them, I feel like I could have gone another 20 or 30 thousand miles before having to worry.
