I had the same thing happen to me recently. It started out as a clicking sound then got progressively worse.

Ended up being a rod bearing at the crank. Had to have the crank replaced and the engine rebuilt.

Hopefully you have better luck then I did.

You've got a valve tapping.

Just for fun, check your oil. Then check that screen that filters the oil going to the top end. Then see if you have a loose pushrod. Your idle rpm sounds high as heck. Was the bike cold when you made the video? If it was cold, probably fine but if it was hot, I'd guess it was over 1,200 rpm.

My brother in law lent me a stethoscope and I finally got a chance to listen to it today. Im not sure I know WTF Im doing but I held the stethoscope to different parts of the bike while it idled. I cant say 100% for sure but I think the sound was loudest in the front rocker box.
I thought I would get a definite idea what I was listening for once I heard it but there really was no "a-ha!" Moment. Im gonna watch a few videos and see if Im doing it right.
I'm starting to get discouraged and considering limping it 3 or 4 miles to a local indy shop.

edit- I really didnt have anything else going on so I went back out and tinkered some more. Still couldnt hear anything unusual coming from the motor so I started wiggling things. Turns out my right footboard was slightly loose. I bought them from Craigslist about 3-4 weeks ago and must not have tightened them down enough. When I tightened it I couldnt hear the noise any more. Rode it ip and down the street and no noise. Could I be so lucky?

Glad you found the loose hardware. I have a 02 Dyna with forward controls and the shaft that the shift levers are attached to was loose in the bracket, replaced bushings, rattle went away. That the top end was coming apart.

Probably brake pads in the front had several bikes that when the pads aged rattled.....drove me nuts.

Glad you found it was something simple. Believe me, I’ve been there.

Motorcycles like when you worry about them. If you are worry-free for too long, they will always come up with a new noise to keep you a little concerned..
