Default Evaporation Line

I just completed my 5k service and installed the primary vent kit on my Road King. When installing the primary vent I noticed my evaporation hose is shredded (see pic). I'm pissed because Harley did my 1k service and I've probably been riding around like this for a while, possibly 4k miles. The line was just free hanging and not zip-tied to anything. I ordered a new one from my dealer but he said it would be a week, maybe more, before it came in. When taking the bike off the lift following my service the hose just fell off the connector that's right under the seat. Question, should I not be riding until I get this replaced? I could just throw the old one back on but if you look at the pic it's got a pretty sizeable hole right in the middle of the tube. Is this just venting fumes hence the name? The second pic shows the line in question. The hose below the connector is what is frayed.

go to a hardware store or an auto parts store and ask for some plastic hose. you can get what you need there.

I just bought a new fuel hose for the crossover on my tank. Even the sales guy at the dealer (I was getting a few other parts too) told me to get it from my local auto parts store. I did, it cost the change in my cup holder.

I just said that to a friend of mine. Can probably find it at Home Depot for $2. I think it's got to be high temperature or something since it routes close to the motor.

I need a new secret. I can’t get the lower part into the wire ties. Just finished new paint and putting it back together. I can feel the and guide through the upper wire tie, can’t reach in at all at the lower. Might need a kindergarten kid with small hands.

2011 Road King Classic.

Can you run a piece of wire up from underneath, tape the hose to it, and pull the hose down through? Alternatively can just relocate the bottom end of the hose with a new zip tie?

Both are good ideas. I don’t really want to reroute because it is very close to the belt. I’ll let you know what works in the morning when I try it again. Thank you.

This may not be the cheapest way but it's certainly the less frustrating way to do it.

Just did this to mine a couple months ago after having the tank off... its the bottom zip tie thats a pain in the *** to get it back inside of. I wound up running mine from the bottom up, thru the middle zip tie first, until it was lined up like it was supposed to be (top and bottom), just not in the bottom zip tie. Then had someone pull the hose up a little while i had my finger tips around the tube just above the lower zip tie, when it cleared the lower zip tie had the other person lower it and with my finger tips was able to encourage it back under the zip tie... what a pain, just replacing the zip ties would have been much easier lol its a small rigid plastic tube thats formed in the a shape to follow the lower part of the frame, but you could cut what ever off of it so its not rubbing until your other one come in or replace it with some small rubber hose.
