still very new to riding, first time I heard of giving a bell to a rider...
My buddy doesnt ride a harley, but I think he needs a bell on His Ducati. He's had it for 3 months and had 2 damaging(to the bike) wash outs, I will be getting him one tomorrow. Not sure if he will put it on the bike, but at least it will be a reminder for him to ease up on those turns.
As for myself don't have one, may have to give some money to my daughter to pick one up for me, hehe, does that count?

designnk, to fill you in on the tradition of the ride bell. If ya buy yourself one it still works but if a friend or loved one gets you one than the magic is much much more powerful. Your daughter can get you one as long as she picks it out . The legend of the bell goes that road demen's live on the road and when you ride by them they will reach out and grab ahold of your bike and cause all kind of mayham, from breaking down or worse cause accident. They can't stand the sound of bell's therefore grabbing their ear's and falling off. That's where we get pot holes from. You need to attach this bell to the lowest part of the frame as possible for best results.
I had never heard of these bells either, but Thursday night my wife and I went to dinner with another couple who ride. They brought us one, and I thought it was a very cool thing. Next day, I see this thread.... I gotta put mine on the bike before I ride this weekend.
I left my old bell on my old bike, just to carry on the good Karma. Being military, and having lost friends to combat, I firmly support the POW/MIA movements. My wife bought me a cool POW/MIA bell for the RG, and it rides just behind the floorboard on the right hand side.
freedomfighter, thanks alot for the history of the bell, very good to know. Gonna do some research and see what companies, other then HD sell them, thanks.
