You are riding ON your motorcycle. If I have to explain the difference you will never understand.

My wrist is strong and so is my desire to control my own throttle.
I have been through enough older bikes to appreciate CC. My old bike doesn't have it, newest bike does, and I use it every chance I get.

Now this new adaptive stuff? IDK but I would let the bugs get worked out.

Cool idea. But, I’ve never ridden in a group of all new motorcycles, that could have that technology.

My problem is always with the people that use throttle locks (or worse, no cruise) - my electronic cruise keeps constant speed, not constant throttle position, so the others I'm riding with without electronic cruise are always speeding up and slowing down, which causes me to have to keep a large distance between me and them, or constantly cancelling and setting cruise (or not using it at all).

However, this new adaptive cruise should take the frustration away, as not all the bikes need to have the technology. In 'group' mode, Harley's adaptive cruise should adjust speed to whichever bike (with same technology) you tell it to watch ahead, or in a 'normal' mode it should work just as any other adaptive cruise works.

My car has adaptive cruise control and I use offen but do not yet have full trust in it, it'll take awhile. I'm having a hard time accepting it on a motorcycle, not sure why?????

I would take no issue with that. The tech isn't new, just new to HD. I've come to like it on cars that are equipped with it. If it works similarly on a bike, why not? Do I need it? No. In group riding scenarios it might be nice. The jury is still out on that one.

Yes it is adaptive cruise control that uses radar to sense the cars in front and will match their speed up to 90 mph. If they are only going 5 mph it follows them at 5 mph 1 car length behind them.

With all this anti-tech sentiment, I am starting to see more and more why the average age of Harley owners keeps rising (up into the 60's now). This technology is not something you have to use. If you don't want it, don't get it. If you've got it, don't use it.

Harley needs younger riders or it will be a thing of the past in the next 10 years. How do you attract younger riders? 1) incorporate things younger riders want, not what geezers want - don't let geezers dictate design/technology for a bike that will be sold to younger riders, and 2) embrace change - something the Boomer generation has a hard time doing is accepting change, and there are plenty of companies that have bit the dust in recent years because of this.

Harley is in the business of making money and staying afloat, not sticking to their roots and "going down with the ship". This is something that Harley has needed to change at least 10 years ago, but it is finally changing in the past year - they finally saw their shrinking base, and are shitting bricks. Last ditch efforts (i.e. new bikes) to keep the company around more than 10 years are coming out next year, and they still very well may miss the mark. The younger generation doesn't think the way the older generation does. Younger riders (generally speaking) don't want a Harley because Dad has a Harley, or grandpa has/had one - they want a bike their friends have, they want a bike they see others their age riding.

For two wheelers on any kind of curve, changing speed requires a corrosponding change in steering input to keep the bike stable.

When guys are cruising along on a wide sweeper and their bike changes speed without notice, you're going to see a lot of bikes leaving their lanes.

This technology seems to work well for vehicles that don't steer by leaning, but it seems like a bad joke on two wheelers.

When on a 7 to 14 day cross country ride it's really nice to hit the CC ON. While ON my bike. No reason to tough it out when the technology exists to make my life easier. 600+ miles a day. Ya. Have fun holding the throttle I'll push my button.

I wasn't questioning the speed matching capability. Was questioning the claim you use it at 90mph in heavy traffic part. But whatever youre comfortable with i guess.
