Default Cruise Control

An answer to a question no one asked. I've had cruise control on all my bikes since the late eighties, can't remember when was the last time I used it. Came back from a six thousand miles plus trip this month, traffic was congested going across the country , would think of attempting to use cruise. Just something to drive cost and repairs up. When it malfunctions in a group ride, law suites are inevitable.

I would think anyone riding a motorcycle equipped with cruise control of any type (unless of course they are sleeping) would have the wherewithal to hit the brakes in that scenario, thereby disengaging the cruise control. Ultimately the rider is still responsible for controlling the bike. It isn't like a driverless car for Pete's sake. LOL.

Just something to add cost, complexity, and weight to an already bloated platform. Hell, Harley can't even get ABS & GPS to function reliably. This is going to be a hoot. If Harley made computers they would have Windows 95 for an operating system.

I like the idea. I don't use cruise when riding but when I'm taking a long trip and eating up highway miles with my buddy, it would be nice. I can usually match his speed and every now and again I'll have to tap the + or -.

I don't see this being very useful unless it also incorporate a brake function as well. Most of the "distronic" systems will now brake down to a complete stop, smoothly. That requires a full "brake-by-wire" function. Which requires a major upgrade to the ABS unit.

So if the lead bike misses the corner and goes over the cliff does the pack follow?

The wiring harness on my ‘19 Softail IS as complicated as my car.

I’m sure it will be as well thought out as Harley’s ABS was.

And a major upgrade to the clutch and shifting mechanism.

If the brainless numb skull OPERATING the bike chooses so, yes.

What's wrong with HD's ABS? Oh, you mean the time that people had no brakes because they didn't properly maintain their brake fluid? I remember that.
