I was aked the other day on the topic of self serve pumps at most stations today.... most have a choice of 3 buttons... regular mid grade and premium.... the question is ... because of the high price of gas these days... and most cagers running regular grade gas... how much other grade gas goes intomy tank before I ctually get the premium I wanted in the first place?.
On the other side of this I guess the next person is gonna get the same amount of premium for regular prices... HMMMM
i think the ones with only one nozzle have three tubes in them. not really sure. Ill ask my buddy who owns a Texaco tomorrow.
I dont really about it. i dont really think it culd be that much.. they monitor that stuff pretty close price per gallon wise so i dont see why they would allow itif it was letting a bunch of fuel in the hose come out before the other grade fuel comes out..... who knows I oculd be wrong.
I have always wondered the same thing? I was told when I got the bike that I should always look for a station that has 3 hoses ! our tanks only hold 4,5 gal and Icould only guess @ 1 gall is "the last guys grade! but since my motor upgrade I use octane boost anyway 4oz. of outlaw and it is like night and day!
This question came up a few months ago. Someone said you get about a third of a gallon or so before premium starts to flow. Just be a nice friend and let your buddy fill first.

It 's funny you say that cuz when we ride in a group we take turns on who fills first! just for that reason!

I wish we had a chevron here.... no such luck... it also seems to me that my buddy that runs a fuel truck is required to dump his hose prior to unloading his next produst... whether it be 1, 2, 3, or diesel, or avgas or whatever everytime he unloaded that 100 ft hose it was 23 liters or almost 5 imp. gallons of stuff.
