Default Dyna Frame Vs Softails

Hey folks,

I ride a 2006 Sportster and have upgraded the suspension front and back to progressives but still will end up changing to a more comfortable frame in the near future.

I do a lot of two-up riding and need advice.
I tried a friends Deuce on the weekend and two-up the thing is sooo smooth compared to my sportser and understandibly so, different frame and $$$.

My favourite HD however isthe Dyna Super Glide but since it has the same type of suspension as my sportster I was wondering if the comfort would be much improvement over the xl883.

Anyone who can share their experience on Dyna frame vs. softail on a purely comfort level would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Marc.

I have an Outlaw that has the softy style, and a StreetBob. The ride is stiffer on my Outlaw, but it's more performance anyway. I like the nimbleness of the Bob, tho.

You will notice a huge difference between a Sporty and an FXD. The frames are different, the bikes have different wheelbases (60" vs. 64.2"), the Dyna is heavier (632 lbs. vs. 585 lbs.) and the bike is longer, (92.8" vs. the Sportster's 90.1"). These are based on the 2008 specs on the HD website, the 06's are no longer listed.

Having gone from an older Sportster to a Superglide 3 years ago, the change was very quickly noticed. The specs don't seem like a large difference, a couple of inches or pounds here and there, but the difference is pretty dramatic. Neither bike is advertised as a long distance touring bike but after putting over 650 miles on my Dyna the past few days to/from Gettysburg and riding some of the wonderful PA roads, the Dyna would hands down be my choice. Ride a Superglide at a Demo or rent one for the day and see for yourself is the best advice I can give you.
