Ok read thru this thread. I been washing my bikes for the last 8 yrs at the car wash. And not one time ever had any problems. With the power washer hurting any part of the bike. Also have friends that use a home power washer and they never had any problems.
This is me I power wash my wheels and tires and never, never had any problems. Also have always armoralled tires for years and never, never ..,never had any problems. I've even used armoral on a rag and wiped my seats lightly then wipe them again with a clean rag to keep from sticking in the hot humid days. Used common sense and don't bathe anything in armorall and I've never had issues. I've been riding since 1965 and I'm still here.

Pressure washed one of the bikes that only get ridden during the summer/weekend literally last Saturday. OP is somewhat correct, you have to be cautious of the wheel bearings and any gasket areas as some of the pressures can take the black right off a kettle. Other than that the water shouldn't be able to penetrate solid metal
Yep, front ABS wheel bearing was history and I was careful. Bearing seemed ok but made ABS light stay on. Fwiw.
I have always hand washed, and if the engine needs a cleaning, a spray of engine cleaner and hose it off. Never a problem. The wheels on the Ultra get wiped down with a degreaser and hit the white walls when it is on the lift
I use Meguilars Quick detail on the paint in between washes
Why would you hit a Harley with a pressure washer anyway, just asking?
I get the point that it is higher pressure, different angle, but if you are careful, I don't think its a big deal. Vast majority of times I wash are at car wash. Stand back, thought I blast a few things. I do notice when I do a hand wash, it does a better job with some things.
Just pulled the trigger on a high pressure washer for cleaning my bike. Damn spray went everywhere. No more of that atomized crap for me, switching to waterless wash!
