Sure this topic has come up before but it's been a few years since I bought a new helmet. Like to hear preferences. Safety and rating is important, but I also want quiet and wind buffeting management. Harley helmets made by HJC don't have the "chin curtain" on many of their models. This makes a huge difference in wind not coming into your helmet. Also want something that would allow speakers and bluetooth connectivity. Thanks.
I agree with what has been posted so far. I would recommend that you go to a store like Cycle Gear, if you have one in your area, and try on different helmets to get one that fits you correctly, and is comfortable. Then, once you have narrowed it down, you can go online and read reviews about the helmets, and find one that suits your needs that way.
I'm looking for modular full face helmets. So far, the one I hope will fit well is Shoei's Neotec 2. It looks like a solid helmet and Shoei is a recognized titan.
My plan is to head to one of the bigger metric outfits here in Detroit. The selection of helmets at my dealer seemed pretty sparse. Lots of good advice from guys here on the subject has got me thinking that this purchase can't just happen online. I need to try these helmets on and find the one that is best for my big ol' noggin.

Yeah, I would definitely go try on helmets. Walk around the store with it on for 10-15 minutes or so to see if you start to feel any "hot spots" where the helmet is pressing uncomfortably on your head. I have found that, typically, that indicates that the shape of the helmet doesn't match the shape of your head.
Better to find that out before you shell out $$$ on the helmet.
My preferences really aren't going to help you if your head shape isn't the same as mine.
I used to wear Shoei helmets but as I have gotten older and fatter Bell helmets seem to fit me better. My son likes HJC helmets.
You will get a list of what helmets people like but it won't help you pick the right helmet for you.
I just ordered a Bell Pit Boss 5/8 Helmet on Amazon for 90 bucks. This has a 5 star rating from 100s if users. Drop down sun shield which can be a clear drop down, the new matrix user adjustable head internal suspension, a twist of a **** for our individual heads😊. Ive never gone wrong with Bell.
hope this info helps. I have found that $$$$ up or down shouldnt be the difference but is nice to try a good 90 dollar helmet on. You can pop it back in the box and send it back for free if it doesnt work for you

I have the Harley "Lincoln" (I think) modular model. I believe it's an HJC helmet. It's ok but I was never crazy about it. I recently bought the Biltwell Lane Splitter and I am really happy with it. You can also buy different size cheek pads to ensure the best fit.
I wear Shoei GT Air helmets , I currently have 2 as I replace them every 5 years and use the older one as a passenger lid....
The GT Air and GT Air II have the drop down sunglasses... most of the time I ride with the face shield up and the tint down and it works great on the baggers
Wind noise depends on the bike as much as the the helmet... my 13 has lots of wind noise... to the point I took off the stock screen and put the Klockworks screen back on to reduce the noise/buffeting..... while my 03 with the same height screen ( but a seating position that is further back from the dash) does not have that problem
My rice bike is fine below 60, over 60 I raise the screen up a little to get the wind over my head.
The newer GT Air II , like the GT Air and a couple of other helmets can have Sena comms put into them... they are helmet specific and pretty neat.... I just can't find a reason to drop $250 dollars on one for my helmet, let alone spend the money for 2....
