Default Transmission case has shrunk???

Had an "expert" Harley tech overhaul my transmission. I supplied a Jims rebuild kit for a 2009 Dyna, plus a couple of springs & a new bolt for the shifter shaft. The guy has been tearing his hair out. Every lunchtime for the past few weeks he has been working on it. Bearings have been changed twice. Still will not go back together. Main shaft binds with the back of the output gear when the trapdoor is bolted together. Has my gearbox shrunk? Any advice please

Contact Jim's, make sure it's the right kit. Better yet have your tech do it so he can explain the problem.

When I had the SE 6speed installed in my Roadie they needed to trim the inside of the transmission case, per instructions. Could be the case for you too.
PS, I love puns.

Did he get it wet while it was apart? Is it cold there?
These 2 reasons (among others) could be a probable cause of shrinkage.

Default Bearings are seated in trapdoor with circlips on. Output gear may be the problem. The main shaft hasn't got any longer.

Hi guys, I may try to press the shafts into the trapdoor bearings to see if they are fully seated. Only 2 threads are exposed with the lock nuts torqued to 60 foot pounds

Default New output bearing is hard to turn

Is this normal on a 6 speed. I guess this bearing alone could lose 10% of my power.. with the seal on the front I can't see if the new bearing has been pushed back into the case too far (by that I mean forced), maybe broken some metal off the case, which is stopping the output shaft from fully seating, meaning that it invaded the space within the casing? I'm looking at approx 0.7mm clearance off the case between that and the flat face of the gear

Wait- who's working on this gearbox, you or the expert?
