One Urban Interstate I hate is I4 through Orlando, FL. Can be a real pain, especially if it's hot.

Just Curious how many are more like me? Or do you enjoy flying down the freeway?
This is where I'm at. I ride for enjoyment, and for me, it's not the destination, but the journey. Within a few miles of my house at the base of the Central Sierras, I can be in the foothills and by knowing all the small roads, there are many places to ride without ever seeing the super slab. I even have a route plotted to Missoula MT where family live that avoids the interstate. It'll take an extra day, but then again...it's the journey.

the highways are pretty crowded around here and people drive like complete ********. You see very few bikes on them, it's actually pretty rare. Kinda sucks the fun out of it. They would be a lot more fun in less traveled areas.

Even in my car the interstates drive me crazy. I like to go 9 over in the left lane. If I see someone approaching faster than I am going I move over, and half the time they stay in my blind spot, pull alongside or pass me and then go the same speed or slower than I was going. Then I get stuck behind a slow guy, and now both lanes are moving slower than I was going. I'd rather ride the 2 lane, where it's easy to pass when necessary.
I know that guy. Not just interstate either, any multilane highway too. I wonder if he's related to the going slow guy that speeds up when you try to go by.

I travel on what road strikes my mood when just out going nowhere in particular, if I have a long distance destination, I usually take a combination of road types, generally the straightest line to where I'm headed. If in a hurry, interstates and divided highways as much as possible. That's cages, too, not just motorcycles. I time my travel as best as possible to times when there is very little traffic, usually travelling with small grand kids so we have to stop a lot anyway. Most of my riding is to and from work, mostly divided highway.

My "slab story" I was on the Pa Turnpike heading east from Gettysburg. I live far enough away that I used the Turnpike to save time, going the back way would double the time involved. the OL was on the back of the Dyna,we are in the right lane doing 70-75 MPH. A Cadillac STS flew by us on the left,we didn't hear it, it was like a flash. Scared the OL,. I didn't flinch as I know not to do jerky movements riding etc. We got to a rest stop, she was like "they were doing 100.."I said "try more like 140". I didn't say it to her, but if they hit us from behind we wouldn't have seen or felt at thing.

I love the interstate. I stop got lots of living to do.

rural interstate is same scenery as highway, just not stuck behind semis, or 6 feet from death.
