I'll always seek fewer lanes when riding for pleasure, or without a time constraint.

I subscribe to Backroads magazine.. Superslab is good for getting from point A to B and finding a nice Back road.

I rarely get on the loop around town...in my cage...wouldn't dare on my bike...80-90 while swerving threw cars is the norm..haven't seen anyone get a ticket in a couple of decades...

I like Interstates when doing long distance rides. I also like divided US and state highways. They are safer roads than 2 lane highways. Hate riding in cities, even on Interstates and take the "loops" around most of them. When you get out West, things are different because of low population density, but I've still done Interstates.

Don't get me wrong, I get off the Interstates often to see the sights.

Seems distracted drivers bother me less on the interstate. They're out there but they're easier to spot, 20mph under the speed limit, drifting into other lanes....
Its statistically true that the highways are safer. Think about it this way, everyone is going in the same direction at roughly the same speed, there's nobody turning left in front of you, no cross traffic and as mentioned above, distracted drivers are easy to spot.
I guess the biggest drawback is if you do crash, you're probably not going to survive it.

That's it in a nutshell for me too. In-town interstates suck, have to pick and choose times and roads. But riding to the next destination (Colo, ARK, Hill Country, pretty open) usually isn't bad or bad traffic.
Going to Tenn was probably the worst for me. Going through big cities to get there roads and traffic sucked (Louisana, Miss, Alabama).

Same here, if I am in a hurry I will get on it, or if I am covering a lot of miles and need to travel at "upper speeds...' the Dyna will cruise at 90 all day.( No, not bragging)

Hey NorthWestern! sounds like you rode right through my back yard (near Vernon & Kelowna). I know this is a gorgeous part of the country too and we do remind ourselves of this often as we see it every day, I guess one of the big attractions for everyone is to see landscapes that are new to us. We all have so much more to behold and there's no better way to see it than on the bike (wouldn't you say)?

I ride purely for the enjoyment of it. Zipping down an Interstate at 80 or 90 to stay ahead of any trouble is not my idea of fun. I love riding the back roads and State Highways to actually see the countryside, and sometimes pull off just to enjoy the view.
Just Curious how many are more like me? Or do you enjoy flying down the freeway?

I'll ride the slab if I'm just "burning" miles to get somewhere in a hurry. Otherwise, nope.
Seems like I ride it just about every day...
