I'm like you...don't want to pay to do HD's advertising for them.
As others have suggested here, there are lots of options as far as brands go. Langlitz, Schott, Vanson, Fox Creek, Hillside, etc... great jackets! If your body shape/size doesn't change much over time, any one of these will be your jacket for life. Personally, I'm of the "buy once cry once" mentality, so any of those would be my go-to assuming you got the cash.
15 or so years ago Harley made a great leather jacket that, if memory serves, they called the "Nevada". No "in-your-face" branding, just a traditional black biker-type jacket, with the only branding being embossed on the metal snaps. i bought one and it's been a great jacket, and still going strong.
You may be able to find one gently used on eBay. Same for any of the other great brands and you'll save some dough.
I have worn HD branded apparel for over 50 years.Am I a dupe? Maybe.Im proud to own HD motorcycles and dont mind displaying that fact. But I'm nobodies shill either. I prefer subdued logos- like the impressed / embossed types on leather for example. Not gaudy, and from more than 5 meters cant be defined. Certainly, the makers mentioned are of fine quality and for most it's at least a 20 year investment. To each his own.

is that a Harley logo on the side of your gas tank?
Your purchase of a motorcycle is more of an endorsement to Harley than a thousand shirts and jackets.
But....by not wearing overt Harley items, you sure show them by not advertising their stuff. You go sir....go on with your bad self!!!
I've always been a fan of the Brando style jackets and when it comes to quality I usually hear Schott as top of the list. Sadly, don't have a Schott jacket, have one made by a company called Excelled that i've had since I was about 18 years old.

Wow! OK then. Must've hit a nerve. But you SURE DID get me good! Just articulating my preference in apparel styling big guy...sorry to have riled so early in the day.
You do make a good point however. I guess I don't mind the branding on the bike itself, just not on a jacket. Or maybe I need to get to a paint guy pronto! Ahhh so much to contemplate! Need more caffeine to think clearly...can you help me with that?
HD used to have allot of coats without the BRAND on the front/back/side.
The latest design fad is to plaster the name all over the product.
I have a HD coat but it is an older one (with no obvious markings, HD snaps & inside label) but it is a great design. The key is to get a coat that you like & that functions the way you want it to.
Riding coats have come along way in the last 30 years (I still have my jacket from the early 80's).
A positive note most newer coats have reflective's built in (a big plus).
I had an HD jacket from back around 88 or 89 and it didn't say Harley anywhere on it except for the tag inside the collar. I loved that jacket, it lasted me years until I wrecked a car and the ambulance crew came in and cut it off me. Man I was pissed when I came to...
