The more information you give , the better chance of getting an answer to your question .
What kind of bike are we talking about ?
What tuner are you using ?
Is it possible you had the error before changing the pipes ?
When you changed pipes , did you disconnect the 02 Sensors before connecting them to the new pipes ? Check your connectors / pins and wires to make sure they are not damaged , corroded or not quite attached .
Ok , so since you had the dealer do the install , the first suggestion I have , is I would go to the help and support section of the program on the FP3 and send an email to V&h . Explain to them that you have an error , which one it is ( p0031 ) , everything about your bike , including the Ser # of the bike . Next you'll upload the map to them , you'll see that on the program as well . They will be able to check out the map and read your settings and see if there is an issue , fix it , and send it back . It is possible that they will see something that looks " off " and you may have to dig deeper into your bike and find the issue .
HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1, Sensor 1)
What Does P0031 Mean?
The P0031 code is a result of the bank 1 HO2S1 (pre catalytic converter heated oxygen sensor) heating element having low voltage. Heated O2 sensors have a separate heater inside the sensor to get them to operating temperature quickly. The faster your O2 sensor(s) get to operating temperature, the faster the car is in a fuel efficient and emissions friendly configuration. If this code is set, the oxygen sensor heater is not working.
This trouble code will not prevent your vehicle from running. The most common result(s) are lower fuel economy and poor vehicle operation. However, if left unsolved, this code could increase the likelihood of your vehicle running rough and cause potential damage to other components of your vehicle.
Code P0031 Common Diagnosis Mistakes
Prematurely replacing the heated oxygen sensor before attempting to visually inspect the wiring around the oxygen sensor for chafed/frayed wiring.
Check to see if there are any other codes along with P0031 and clear your Check Engine Light with FIXD.
Conduct a visual inspection of bank 1 pre catalytic converter oxygen sensor wiring for fraying and/or disconnection.
Check the ground side of the O2 sensors heater circuit for continuity to ground. It should have good continuity if it doesnt, repair wiring.
With the engine off and the key on, use a voltmeter to check for approximately 12 volts (should be the same voltage the vehicle battery is at) on the power side of the O2 sensor heater.
If no voltage is registered, check the fuse; if the fuse is good, consider repairing short/open in heater circuit wiring.
If low voltage is measured, check for high resistance in the wiring.
If the voltmeter registers 12 volts, consider replacing the heated oxygen sensor.
if it were me i would take it back to the indy shop and have them check it out. if they didnt unplug the o2 sensors before removing that could have broken a wire. and the same goes putting them back in place. i know there is a difference in the wire connection ends at least on my bike there there is just color if i remember correct. but they could have broken a wire. just a thought ? please dont qoute me on this its been a while since i did mine.
After checking the connections I cleared the codes on the app - the check engine light is gone. No issues on a hour long ride. Really appreciate all of the advice. Thank you!
Excellent , could have been just a loose connection . Keep an eye on it for awhile . If you didn't know , you can view your data and check your 02 sensors for voltage , as well as other things on the bike .
I'm using the FP3 as well on my King , great little unit . I loaded the map and set the throttle to " Aggressive " and never looked back . Just looking to purchase a holder for my phone , so I can use it to view some of the features it has to offer , and of course for music and gps .
