Never understood why anyone would take a stock Harley and replace with Harley's so-called street performance parts with really cool names like Screamin Eagle or Street Canons . Just the same Harley EPA overpriced parts that do nothing more as far as performance goes over stock parts . Talking to a guy the other day in a parking lot he was standing beside his new Harley and was bragging about his Street Canons and Harley Race tuner that he paid to much for and then paid the Dealer to flash the ECM . Flash for what ? Just another EPA compliant Harley part / tune. I did not say anything to him, I just thought to myself Harley loves uninformed guys like you . Maybe he should be reading the posts on this forum and then he would know what to buy and do to get a true Stage 1 upgrade .
It's all about post sales dealer installed mods profit + profit for the parts.
I made the same comments in another thread and you're right it has nothing to do with the EPA since Screaming Eagle upgrades are 50 state legal and EPA compliant. Harley could easily use a better cam, air cleaner, exhaust and tune right from the factory but doing so will eat into the post sale earning potential for the dealers and the MoCo.
I don't agree that some people don't want more power. The correct statement is that some people don't want to pay extra for more power after the sale... If our bikes came stock with equal the power of a stage 2 no one would complain about them having too much power and not buy one.
I have a friend with the 107 in a Softail Sport Glide. I got to put a lot of miles on it
I think its faster with more Torque then my stage 1 14 Road King. I honestly dont think I would bother with more then Mufflers.
Mustangs are just as big a money pit as harleys. Possibly more so
True, but they really sound like crap...5.0 Mustang more annoying sound I have never heard.
