Just venting here..... My 2018 FatBob's battery died and it's under the 2 year warranty. So I took it out (what a pain) and brought it to the dealer. They said they need the whole bike, and can pick it up in two weeks. Two weeks in June!! Also, they asked if I had the 1000 mile service done, I said yes, bought the parts from them and did it myself. They didn't think that would be good enough and could void my warranty.... then asked if I did anything else... yes, stage one kit (all bought from the dealer) and sone Reinhardt slips ons... that also gave them a squirmy look..... Seems like they were preparing me for some warranty denial. I just said screw it, ordered a battery on-line (Renegade) and told them to have a great weekend. Didn't give them a hard time since this all seems to be Harley directive, not dealer. Point being you would think a company with shrinking numbers would just take care of something so easy to do, give a good review and tell a nice story about how stuff was just handled.... but now it's this, someone just complaining. I wish customer service was cool again. Love the bike by the way.... My second FatBob, have a 2008 as well.
...that "possible warranty denial" BS is just that. They cannot "void" your warranty just because you did your own 1K service. Some of these HD dealers sure are rip-off artists!!! And it's amazing with their much shrinking customer base that they have to resort to treating people this way. I'm surprised more of them don't go out of business doing this BS.
I believe certain Harley dealers would treat their customers like that . And yes more Harley dealers will go out of business and let us hope this dealer is the first . How are you with web page design ? Do you know anyone that could build you a web page with ________ (fill in you Harley Dealers name here ) sucks .com, and tell the world about how you were treated , that should get their attention .
There must be another dealership that you can use? I would drop that one like a hot rock. You might consider contacting the mother ship and tell them about this place.
Normally I would side with the customer, but ya gotta realize something...you coulda brought ANYONE'S battery in (your friend, etc) & said it failed to get a free battery; that's prolly why they did that.
That warranty crap is crapadoola, though. Tell them about the Magnusson-Moss act. They cannot deny your warranty because you did your own service.
