Best Lightweight Kevlar/mesh jacket (or shirt) Option?
The leather jacket I wear in NH does not work very well in Florida.
I have a Joe Rocket mesh jacket that is very light weight and well armored, and a Cortech that is more textile than mesh, it has lots of ventilation with very good armor on the elbows and shoulders with a full back protector.
Both have liners and rain liners that zip in and out.... trust me in Florida it is nice to have that rain liner option.
IMHO you can't go wrong with a Cortech jacket and they are reasonably priced. Plus they have Hi Viz inserts that get you noticed. When I am on my crotch rocket at night, it is very hard to see from behind, the Hi Viz reflective surfaces helps keep Grandma from taking me out (I hope)
The Hi Viz is not as much of a concern on the baggers as they have Custom Dynamics lighting and are easily seen from any angle
I know you are not looking for the Power Rangers look, so Cortech also makes stuff that is not as bright as far as coloring

I also have an armored shirt which is basically some spandex like material that holds the armor in place. I wear that under a motocross shirt when I'm dual sporting in the summer months. It doesn't offer much abrasion resistance but has level 2 armor for impact protection. It's also very breathable but I still sweat a ton when dual sporting. I don't really wear this getup when riding the Harley.
If you are going to get something, get a light color. It really helps keep the temps down in the summer.

If you get the all black one or the Black and gray it's not too power ranger looking.
