Default Pichup Deliberately Crashes Into Bike

I saw this on the noon local news today. A pickup truck comes across several lanes of interstate and deliberately crashes into a bike which then crashes. Contrary to what the noon news talking head said, the pickup does not appear to stop. The offending truck appears at the 57 second mark of the 1:52 long video:

https://www.9news.com/video/news/loc...0-f542928597dd

There were three bikes riding together and it appears that one of the bikes followed the truck. Hope she/he got the license number. The bike that was hit at first stayed upright but it went into an oscillation and the bike went down after three or four cycles. I'm just guessing here, but I suspect there was some kind of road rage event between the bike riders and the truck prior to what we see in the video. Ride meekly, ya never win against a four wheeled vehicle. In so many ways. Sigh.

This was just on the news here.
Biker is in ICU.
Driver of pickup was interviewed at the scene and released without charges.
After seeing the video, the CSP is reopening their investigation.

Maybe, maybe not. This exact same thing happened to me in my car back in May. It was not deliberate. The guy just never looked, I was in his blind spot and he hit me hard. We were only going 45 mph and it did $9300 bucks worth of damage to a 2019 Chevy Equinox. He was in a full sized Chevy pickup. He hit me hard.

I feel bad for this guy on the bike. I hope he will be okay. This guy is a hole for not stoping. They need to string him up. At least the guy that hit me was extremely concerned about me and immediately told the police it was his fault.

I don't believe this particular incident was an accident, though. The driver made a fairly smooth yet rapid lane change into the adjacent lane, hesitated alongside the bike for a moment as it was overtaking him, then turned sharply (sharply enough it looked like he started to lose traction) into him.

I've seen many videos of incidents like this that were accidents, and many that were not. The dynamics of each are most usually totally different.

I'm not sure that it was an intentional act.
The video makes it appear that the bike may have been in the truck's blind spot.
THe driver did quickly steer back away from he bike after making contact but he should have also stopped as soon as he could safely pull over.

Hopefully the investigation will reveal the facts.

Best wishes the the biker. Most anyone of us could be that guy if we're not vigilant!
