I have Harleys repair manuals for my 1959 FLH, and 1991 FXSTS , both manuals fell apart ,and even though I taped up the binding ,they are now a bunch of loose pages.
On the other hand , my Clymer manuals are as good as new.
Even the HD parts manuals are reduced to a bunch of pages sitting in order ( not always ) that I leaf through trying to keep them together .
Kinda a pain in the neck .
I usually read the directions of both HD and Clymer to get a better understanding of what procedure needs to be followed .
take 'em to office max or staples or office depot..they'll do it for ya for a small fee..some have different options..spiral bound with plastic covers would be my choice..
I took mine to Office Max and for around $20 they punched holes and put spiral binding, clear front cover, and black back cover on both service and parts manuals. They are a little flimsy when pulling out of cabinet, but it sure is nice to have these lay flat open when you use/need them. I would think they could also 3 hole punch and you could buy a binder or notebook for these.
If you do 3 hole punch them have it done professionally and try to avoid the "stick on" hole reinforcing rings. They will stick to the ring while trying to turn the pages and leave glue on the ring so the other pages don't turn smoothly... Don't ask how I know that, it was a bad Poindexter moment.
I have a few old ones that came apart like that. I also used a 3 ring binder, but I used a drill press for the holes. Not the best option but it worked.
