If someone is riding to close, I put in my signal to pull on to the shoulder and wave them by. Better to let them pass by then have them pissed off. I ride to enjoy it at a nice comfortable pace . Let em go..

Illegal in VA. If you are not going speed limit, best to pull over occasionally. Few years ago, a member and I picked up the Harley banner at Richmond's VA Harley . Rode up Route 10 country 2 lane.

I tend to do speed limit smelling the roses and enjoy the cruse. His big cruiser had cruse control and he tended to get further away but would slow or I would notice and catch up. But observing my driving habits, he would notice once a few cars started stacking, would signal and we would pull over.

He was one of the best people I have followed and we had just met. Never ask him if my driving habits annoyed him. I know I annoy cars when I am in my cage. To me, 90 % drive like nut. And even worst now with them not giving tickets. They can't keep power poles up one week on one of the 35 mph road close to me with a lot of turn on the street.

Yes, if you are holding up quicker riders, pull over a bit and motion with your left hand for them to pass. Legalities aside, this is just common courtesy and how it is done out in the twisties of SoCal.The person passing should not actually share the same lane but pass using the oncoming lane. In n the twisties, it's nice to get the go-ahead before making a quick pass.

Answer to OP's question: Absolutely

Situation awarness.
Slow traffic move ride.
Pull over and let faster vehicles by.
Share the road.
Etc.
Waving okay to pass is "icing on the cake" and shows awarness and increases safety for the approaching driver.
All proper road sharing etiquette.

I was taught as a CTA bus driver to never wave anyone ahead, or anywhere. And to own your lane. If they have an accident it opens you up to liability.

On my bike I’m usually going faster than everybody else anyway. If see people coming up on me from the rear I’ll slow down and let them pass me in a passing zone. I’m not letting them share my lane. I don’t know if they’re blind or stoned.

Very rarely does anyone come up behind me, I’m usually the one coming up on slower riders, but when I do see the guys on sport bikes coming up on me, I move as far to the right as possible to let them fly by me. I can’t stand when a slow biker stays in the middle while in the twisties.

If you are holding me up, I'm going around you when i have a safe path. Check your rear view mirrors frequently, if you see someone coming up, let them by.
