Not too long ago, I was riding down I-25, not going too fast, maybe 5 or 10 over. In my mirror I see a sportbike closing in on me fast. He got about to where I figure he could see my patch, hit the brakes hard. He maintained about 30 meters behind me. Shortly after that, another sportbike guy came blasting past both of us. The first one went around and caught up with. It looked like he was chewing him out, then they both slowed down and let me pass. I found it a bit amusing as we are not 1%, though we are 3PP.
Not a true story. Courtesy pull over to right is illegal in TX but is part of the culture. Got in a deal down there and DPS explained it to me. Not only that, if there is any kind of accident, the party that pulled over will be held responsible no matter the cause.
Flame away but thats directly from a DPS officer
In Iowa at least your allowed to use whatever part of the lane you want , is that different in Texas ? If not then how do they decide your intentions unless they actually see you wave someone by ?
I've been around the block more than a few times ... it's always amazed me how much "chest puffing" goes on here ... Gotta believe that it's way more than in real life ... Common courtesy ( respect ) goes a heck of a long way in life and on the road. ;>)

Im not a Texan but its just plain Texan courtesy. If someone comes from behind, you move to the shoulder to let them pass and give them full use of the lane. Really fun watching snow birds get everyone pissed because they dont know the custom.
